“So that the ocean on one side is wild
With foam and glitter, and inland among stones”
The Flaggy Shore – Geosite is a half a mile of coastline that stretches from New Quay to Finavarra with a panoramic view of Galway Bay. While there are no facilities other than a make-shift car parking area, this walk is a must if you are visiting the area. It’s beauty and wilderness inspired our very own Séamus Heaney who’s poem ‘Postcript’ details a visit he made there. A magical find in the banner county with a tarmac path along the coast making it very accessible indeed.
