Creating a database of accessible, buggy-friendly walks around Ireland

Walking was always a huge part of our life and when our first child was born three years ago we wanted to share this love with her. I also wanted to continue to enjoy the benefits of regular exercise on my physical, mental and emotional health. However the outdoors is a different place when walking with a buggy, so we soon realised many of our favourite spots were inaccessible. When searching online for information on walks suitable for small wheels we learned that no such data exists.

Enter BuggyWalks Ireland!

I created this blog to document my discovery of accessible buggy walks around Ireland. In undertaking this I am combining two passions of mine –  promoting positive mental health and spending quality family time walking around our beautiful country.

I currently work part-time in Dublin therefore the majority of the walks are in Dublin and surrounding counties. However through day trips and holidays we hope to cover walks in every county in Ireland. Along the way suitable buggy walks will be described, with local facilities and sights included.

Given the number of walks in Ireland this is a daunting task to pursue on my own, and so I am asking for your help! Get involved by suggesting buggy-friendly walks in your area, or maybe even document them yourself and I could re-post your description.

Follow me on Facebook and Twitter & Instagram @buggywalksire for regular updates.

Happy walking x

 Where to next!
